Prescriptions - Dr Joanna Gach - Consultant Dermatologist

Prescriptions for medications

Medications will be prescribed to you on the private prescription basis.

Private medications are not charged at the NHS rate and the NHS exemptions or prepayments cards do not cover private prescriptions.

A medical report, known as clinic letter, will be sent by email to your general practitioner with the recommendations for the treatment. At your request, I can ask your general practitioner to provide you with the NHS prescription for the recommended items. Please note, that your general practitioner has no obligation to provide you with the NHS prescription or to arrange for blood tests, if the request comes from the private provider.

There are also many drugs such as isotretinoin (Roaccutane), Efudix cream, Aldara cream and many others that cannot be prescribed in primary care.

Repeat prescriptions

Repeat prescriptions are issued only when it is medically safe, and to cover any shortages of medication between appointments.

I do not issue replacement prescriptions for lost or damaged prescriptions for Roaccutane.

If your request is accepted, then an administrative fee of £30 will be payable before the prescription is issued. You will be provided with payment details.
